  • UL Preview

first_imgNote: I don’t want to patronize you with these game previews. I’m going to go out on a limb and say you didn’t wake up today wondering, “hmmmmm, I wonder how many sacks Louisiana allowed on the left side of their line last year…” Or maybe you did…if so you can head over to Go Pokes and read Robert Allen’s intense breakdown. If not though, and because I think you’re here to be entertained, I’m going to give you previews that pique your interest. What’s the spread? What’s the over/under? What are a few interesting stats I should know going in? Who’s the other team’s best players? What channel can I watch the game on? That’s what we’re here for.Teams: Oklahoma State 0-0 (0-0) vs. Louisiana 0-0 (0-0)Time: 6:10 PM CSTTV: Fox College Sports (Cox: n/a | UVerse: 647-649 | DirecTV: 617/623 | Dish Network: n/a)On the call: Steve Physioc, Yogi Roth, and Desmond Purnell (I’ve never heard of them either)For entertainment purposes:Spread: OSU -38Over/Under: 64.5Both of those are huge numbers, especially against a team OSU trailed in the second half last year that returns its best players at the skill positions. That being said I could see a 55-10 game or a 61-17 game or something like that. Personally, I’ll take OSU to cover AND the over, but that’s probably just because I predicted that they’d put up 50 in each of the first three games. If I were you I’d stay away though, go steal some money and get Oregon at -3.What you need to know about Louisiana:Louisiana has had four coaches in the last 25 years (including a new one this year), as of today three will have opened against Oklahoma State. It hasn’t been pretty for them so far, OSU is 7-0 against the Ragin’ Cajuns with the closest game being a 21-20 barnburner in Lafayette in 1986. In fact, the only two Big 12 teams Louisiana has ever beaten are Kansas State (in 2009) and….Texas A&M. They’re 0-24 against top 25 teams on the road (it’s kind of weird they’ve only played 24 games against top 25 teams on the road in their history, no?)Player to watch on Louisiana:Their tight end, Ladarius Green (#89), led all tight ends last year (like, nationally) in yards, touchdowns, yards per game, and yards per catch. He didn’t play against OSU last year so hopefully Shaun Lewis can give him a nice welcome to Stillwater.Last year:The Cowboys trailed by four at halftime in an odd Friday night game last year. Bailey hit a pair of 52-yarders and Weeden tossed five and OSU closed hard in the second half. Just one more piece of evidence for my “Friday night games are dumb” theory.A few stats you should know:OSU is 20-4 in September under Mike Gundy – This stood out to me. 20-4 in any month at any school is sick, but at OSU where we play good openers with teams from other BCS conferences? Outstanding. This is OSU’s 27th game ever as a top 10 team – They are 17-10 when playing as a top 10 team. I fully expect those numbers (well one of them anyway) to be much larger after this season is over. Josh Cooper has at least one catch in 17 straight games – And I fully expect this to reach 30.Video to get you ready:If you can’t get pumped for this, I don’t know what to tell you…What I’m excited for:We could be playing Stillwater High School and I’d be fired up for the first game. I’m intrigued to see how this team responds to all the offseason hype, uniform buzz, and general hyperbolization towards Stillwater. I think they stay hungry and come out with Dana’s old “screw you and the private plane you flew in on, this thing’s going to be over by the 3rd” attitude. I guess we’ll find out later today.OSU will win if:Nobody gets h-word. Nobody really important gets h-word. The entire offense doesn’t get food poisioning? I don’t forsee any scenarios in which OSU doesn’t win this game. Uniform prediction: If you’re looking for the comments section, it has moved to our forum, The Chamber. You can go there to comment and holler about these articles, specifically in these threads. The line remains partially in use by freight carriers and vintage trains.According to museum officials, the anniversary celebration will include free lectures, traveling exhibits, special events with other historical organizations and screenings of silent movies showing parts of the San Diego and Arizona Railway. All activities throughout the year are prelude to a reenactment ceremony of Spreckels accidentally bending the final railroad spike at Campo Railroad Park on Nov. 16, 2019.“We’re very excited about kicking-off our yearlong celebration and the leading up to the 100 anniversary of the country’s final transcontinental railroad,’ said museum President Diana Hyatt. “We invite all San Diego residents to join the celebration.”Residents can book free lectures by museum volunteers, loans of a traveling museum exhibit and learn more about the centennial celebration of the San Diego and Arizona Railway at psrm.org.
