Juab Wrestling Wins Its 6th All-Time Wrestling State Title and 4th In A Row Saturday

first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailOREM, Utah-Saturday, the Juab Wasps won their sixth all-time state wrestling title (2000, 2015, 2017-2020) and fourth in a row as they blew away the field at the 3-A state wrestling tournament at the UCCU Center on the campus of Utah Valley University.The dynastic Wasps amassed 286.5 points, blowing away second-place Delta (216.5 points) to secure the state title.Morgan finished third with 184 points, Emery was fourth with 169 points and South Sevier placed fifth with 130 points.ALA placed sixth (111 points), Richfield finished seventh (103 points), South Summit finished eighth (95 points), North Sanpete placed ninth (86 points), Manti and Union tied for 10th (68 points), Grantsville placed 12th (65 points), Carbon finished 13th (43.5 points), Summit Academy finished 14th (22 points), Grand County finished 15th (6 points), Maeser Prep placed 16th (4 points) and Providence Hall and San Juan tied for 17th with 3 points apiece.The Wasps received state titles from senior Conner Ingram at 132 pounds, prevailing by a 9-5 decision over South Sevier senior Triston Fillmore, sophomore Channing Warner at 138 pounds by a 19-6 multiple decision over Summit Academy junior Will Haight, freshman Chase Ingram at 145 pounds via fall over South Sevier senior Jett High, senior Cade Bowring at 152 pounds by a 10-4 decision over Emery junior Bryar Meccariello, freshman Will Harmon at 160 pounds via fall over South Summit junior Bryce Clegg, senior Blake Mangelson at 220 pounds by fall over Manti senior Spencer Colburn and junior Shan Jackson at 285 pounds by a 5-1 decision over South Sevier senior Kemmer Jones.At 106 pounds, Richfield freshman Dayson Torgerson took the crown by virtue of a 3-0 decision over Juab sophomore Kaden Ercanbrack. Delta junior Shayden Taylor placed third at 106 pounds with an 8-2 decision over Emery freshman Merritt Meccariello.At 113 pounds, Morgan sophomore William Korth took the title with a 5-3 decision over teammate Blake Woolsey, a sophomore.Juab junior Keaton Sperry placed third at 113 pounds, besting Richfield freshman Garrin Lord by virtue of a 17-6 multiple decision.The champion at 120 pounds is Morgan junior Waylen Pentz, who prevailed 3-2 in a thrilling ultimate tiebreaker over Grantsville senior Joseph Mecham. Richfield junior Denim Torgerson waxed Emery sophomore Byron Christiansen by fall to finish third at 120 pounds.At 126 pounds, Morgan senior Jarett Jorgensen downed ALA sophomore Lukus Carrillo by multiple deicsion, 19-11 to take the crown. Delta senior Maverick Caldwell placed third at 126 pounds by fall over South Summit sophomore Taigon Bushell.The third-place finisher at 132 pounds was Delta sophomore Joshua Jackson, who downed Manti senior Kayden Fowles by fall.At 138 pounds, the third-place finisher was Delta sophomore Trey Butler who routed North Sanpete senior Adrian Lemus 11-0 by multiple decision. In 5th place at 138 pounds was Manti junior Kaleb Rimmasch who edged Morgan senior Brennan Campbell by an 8-7 decision.At 145 pounds, placing third was Delta senior Kurtus Nielson over Union senior Kevin Urzua with a 9-6 decision and at 152 pounds, Delta junior Adam Chase downed ALA junior Cale Miner by fall. The fifth-place finisher at 152 pounds was Richfield senior Jordan Snyder over Grantsville sophomore Grant Rounds.At 160 pounds, South Sevier’s Jaxin Torgerson placed third by virtue of a fall over Delta sophomore Brandon Dutson.The 170-pound champion was Emery’s Hayes Dalton as the Spartans’ sophomore bested Morgan junior Tanner Belinski by virtue of a 6-4 decision.At 182 pounds, North Sanpete senior Jaden Kaibetony bested South Sevier senior Taylor Hunt by fall to win the state title. Juab senior C. Rylan Watts  downed Morgan junior Chance Toone by fall.Finally, at 195 pounds, Delta senior Jake Jackson bested ALA junior Justyn Mitchell by fall to win the state title at that weight. North Sanpete junior Laramie Roberts downed Juab junior Talon Holdaway by fall to take third at 195 pounds.
