Security tightened as Panaad stadium rehabilitation begins

Diaz said the province will also enterinto a memorandum of agreement with the Negros Occidental Tennis Associationfor the maintenance of the shell courts. “It’s going to be a complete rehab,which will start with the sports facilities, including the track oval. We hopethat by 2021, we can be ready for the regional meet and the Palarong Pambansa,”he explained. The Provincial Engineering Office andthe Sports Development Office, according to Diaz, have submitted a plan for therehabilitation of the stadium. “We have already cleared out allillegal structures inside the premises,” he noted. Diaz also said the provincialgovernment plans to put up a perimeter wall near a creek located at the farside of the park. The park facilities will also beimproved, which involves organizing the kiosks for the annual Panaad sa NegrosFestival and the provision of parking space. The Panaad Park is where localgovernment units set up booths to showcase their food and tourism offeringsduring the Panaad festivities held every April, while the Panaad Stadium hasbeen the venue of several international sports events, the latest of which wasthe 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers match between the Philippinesand China held on Oct. 15./PNlast_img
